The Karachi Port handled 107,812 tonnes of cargo comprising 90,613 tonnes of import cargo and 17,199 tonnes of export cargo including 4,869 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 90,613 tonnes comprised of 42,937 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,093 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,505 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 1,607 tonnes of coal; 5,898 tonnes of fertiliser and 33,078 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 17,199 tonnes comprised of 9,990 tonnes of containerised cargo; 701 tonnes of bulk cargo and 6,508 tonnes of loose bulk cement. As many as 4,869 containers comprising of 3,069 containers import and 1,800 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 817 of 20's and 1,096 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 30 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 180 of 20's and 310 of 40's loaded containers while 168 of 20's and 416 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships namely OOCL Kobe, Calidris, MSC Lana, Densa Sea Lion and Zealand Rotterdam carrying containers, meal and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Ital Laguna, Kota Kasturi, As Orelia, Nave Rigel, MT Shalamar and Mohar carrying containers, oil tankers and cement respectively currently at the berths. There was one ship namely Kota Kasturi carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday while two ships namely Ital Laguna and YM Excellence carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were two vessels viz. Bay Pearl and Chang Hang Fu Hai carrying oil tanker and steel respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while nine vessels viz. Leopard, Bahamas, Kota Lembah, Hyundai Brave, MT Quetta, Beoyoung, Seacon-7, Hony Future and Mimasaka carrying containers, oil tankers and steel respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 102,877 tonnes includes 53,977 tonnes of furnace oil; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 8,550 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 4,286 tonnes of chemical; 387 tonnes of project cargo; 3,566 tonnes of clinker and 24,111 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,191 tonnes includes 3,494 tonnes of cement and 29,697 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,832 containers comprising of 1,269 containers import and 1,563 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were two ships namely CV Maersk Atlanta and CV Washington carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three ships namely MV Cerulean, MT Yes and MT Brizo carrying project cargo, LPG and furnace oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Maersk Atlanta, CV Washington, MV Johar Express, MV Cerulean, MV Amalthia, MV Hope Star, MT Yes, MT Sam Pride and MT Brizo currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, soyabean seeds, project cargo, chemical, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely CV UASC Al-Khor, CV Maersk Stepnica, MT White Purl, MT Marachi and MT Okyroe carrying containers, LPG and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday. There were three vessels viz. CV UASC Al-Khor, CV Maersk Stepnica and MT Okyroe carrying containers and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were eight ships namely CV MSC Albany, CV MSC Lucy, CV Rio Bravo, CV Maersk Innoshima, CV Safmarine Nyassa, MT Bronia, MT Omera Queen and Tomini Harmony carrying containers, furnace oil and soyabean respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There are two ships namely CV Maipo and MT Plymouth carrying containers and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
