The 7th Annual Health Research Conference, being organised by Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Dr Mehr Taj Roghani, here on Saturday.
KP Secretary Health, Abid Majeed, Vice Chancellor KMU, Prof Dr Muhammad Hafizullah, Director Academics, Prof Dr Muhammad Ilyas Saeedi, Director IBMS Prof Dr Jawad Ahmad, Director ORIC Dr Ziaul Haq, medical educationists, researchers, principals of Medical and Dental colleges, faculty and a large numbers of students were also present on the occasion.
Dr Mehar Taj Roghani while speaking on the occasion shared that the secret behind the development of the developed nations is hard work, dedication and research based education system and to achieve this we should adopt the research culture on all levels.
While praising the KMU research efforts she said that all these research initiatives should be beneficial for the overall well being and better health of the general public. She hoped that the recommendations of the conference should be shared with the Health department for execution and for the benefit of the ailing humanity.
KP Secretary Health Abid Majeed was the guest of honour. He said that he believes on practical measures and steps have been taken to minimise the patient burden on the big hospitals through strengthening secondary and primary healthcare delivery system.
He explained that after introducing health insurance scheme for the poor ailing population of four districts of the province, now this scheme is expanded with the cost of Rs 3.1 billion to the ten districts of KP which will cover almost 50 percent population of the province.
He said healthcare commission will also be functioned on war footing basis to curb the menace of quackery and to implement the real set standard formulated by health department in true spirit.
VC KMU Prof Hafizullah and Director ORIC Dr Zia-ul-Haq threw light on achievements of the university and the objectives and theme of the conference.
