Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would give a comprehensive statement on 'Panama Paper' in forthcoming session of the National Assembly which is likely to be held on May 9, it is learnt. The opposition parties Pakistan People's party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreeke-e-Insaf (PTI) are raising the issue of 'Panama Paper' aggressively in media as well in their public gatherings. The opposition parties have rejected the Terms of References (ToRs) announced by the government for Judicial Commission on 'Panama Paper'.
The PPP is also going to hold a meeting of all opposition parties today (Monday) to evolve a joint strategy on 'Panama Paper' and to prepare the ToRs with consensus for Judicial Commission.
According to the sources, the opposition parties would raise the issue of 'Panama Leaks' vigorously in both Houses of the Parliament and would give tough time to the government. They said that the opposition parties might also force the Prime Minister to take the House into confidence regarding "Panama Peppers. It will be a unanimous demand to the Prime Minister to present himself before Parliament regarding offshore companies issue."
Separate sessions of both Houses will be followed by a joint session of parliament on June 2 which will be addressed by President Mamnoon Hussain, officially starting the new parliamentary year. Immediately, after the joint-session of the parliament, the President would summon budget sessions separately of the National Assembly and Senate.
The sources said that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar would present Budget-2016-17 in the National Assembly on June 4 for discussion. The Finance Minister would also lay Budget-2016-17 in the Senate for discussion and recommendations.
The PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari already asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in public meeting on Saturday to present himself before the Parliament on the Panama issue.
The sources said that the senior leaders of PML-N have also advised to the Prime Minister to seek vote of confidence in the upcoming session of the National Assembly after making a short speech in the House.
