Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Manawan, here on Sunday. Secretary Communication & Works gave a briefing to the Chief Minister about the project.
The Chief Minister directed to construct 100-bed hospital instead of 60-bed and work should be completed at the earliest by working day and night. Addressing the function, the Chief Minister said that project of construction of hospital was a gift for the people residing in border area. He said that this was not a favour but their right and he had come to return them their right, as there was lack of best treatment facilities for the residents of Wahga Border, Batapur and Manawan.
He said that there was a dire need of the hospital in the area for a long time. Announcing construction of a 100-bed hospital, Shahbaz Sharif said that he will personally monitor the construction work and this hospital will be completed by March 23 next year. He directed concerned authorities that it should be the best hospital of Pakistan where best doctors, paramedical staff and modern machinery should be available. Best hospital will be handed over to the residents of border areas, he added.
The Chief Minister thanked Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid for cooperation in acquiring land for the project of construction of the hospital. Shehbaz Sharif said: "today Imran Khan is taking out a rally not against the government but himself because Jehangir Tareen and Abdul Aleem Khan got their loans written off and grabbed lands and their off-shore companies have also come to fore," he said.
The Chief Minister said he accepted to challenge the damages notice for Rs 10 billion served on him by Jahangir Tareen added that this amount will be recovered from looters and spent on the welfare of the poor. He said that getting loans written off was a serious crime but despite it, they travel by aero-planes, live in palaces and were owners of lands. "First, they asked for accountability and when the time of accountability reached then they are trying to escape it," he added.
He said time had come to recover the looted wealth and the loans got written off. He said those demanding of their turn want to attack the country but conscious people of Pakistan would foil their designs.
Advisor Health Kh. Salman Rafique, Members National and Provincial Assembly, Provincial Authorities and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
