National Productivity Organisation (NPO) organised a training programme in collaboration with IFC, SMEDA and Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) to improve the management capacity and business performance of SMEs.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Tariq Khan, Vice-President, MCCI, said that organisations all over the world used business edge to enhance the performance of their SME partners, build their own internal training capacity, create dynamic training content, and to develop cross-cutting initiatives to drive their organisational strategy.
The participants were informed about the four stages of a project management process ie analysis, design, delivery, and evaluation. "By working on our projects in this methodical manner, we are able to create solutions that have a measurable impact on real-world performance," Tariq said.
Asim Faiz Chishti, IFC Co-ordinator, said that training design and delivery methodology incorporated principles of learning cycle and experiential learning, with emphasis on workplace application of learned skills. "We have mapped out trainer facilitation skills into 40 sub skills by which we train, assess and certify our trainers. We further build the competencies of our network of trainers by offering modularised skill development in training needs analysis, instructional design and development, course customisation, learning transfer through on-the-job coaching, and training impact assessment," he added.
He further said that the IFC had licensed content as well as developed its own curriculum based on international best practices for SME management. "We source local content from our training partners to develop new, relevant, practical coursework on an ongoing basis," he added.
He said that more than 500 trainers and over 100 training and consulting companies in 34 countries around the world actively chose to get business edge accreditation.
