In order to provide trained manpower to the industry locally and internationally and to reduce poverty, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) will train 2365 youth under Prime Minister's Youth Skill Development Programme (YSDP) Phase-III. In this regard, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) signed an MoU with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) here Wednesday at TEVTA Secretariat.
The MoU was signed by Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh and Regional Director NAVTTC Haji Muhammad Dogar. Chief Operating Officer TEVTA Jawad Ahmed Qureshi and other officers of TEVTA were also present on the occasion. Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while addressing the participants of ceremony said that according to the terms of MoU, NAVTTC will pay Rs 95 million to TEVTA to train 2365 youth.
The youth will be trained through six months short term youth skill development program at 32 TEVTA Institutes across the province of the Punjab. These short courses will be offered in 27 demand driven trades. Admission process has started and classes will commence from May 18, 2016. No fees will be charged from the trainees and a stipend of Rs 3000/- per month will be paid to every trainee during the course of training. A tool kit will also be provided to every trainee free of cost.
Chairperson TEVTA further said that TEVTA will provide workshops, trainees, faculty, training facilities, utilities and certificates to all successful trainees while NAVTTC will meet operating costs and monitor & evaluate the programme for achievement of its objectives. This effort to provide employable skills in short duration to the youth will not only enable the youth to be financially independent but it will help to meet the shortage of trained manpower in the local and international job markets.
