The Punjab budget 2016-17 is in the final stages of formulation with additional funds allocation for the education and health sectors, according to sources. The sources on Wednesday said, that allocations for new opportunities and avenues are being ensured in the Punjab budget 2016-17 for development of remote and backward areas of Punjab.
The upcoming Punjab budget, envisages interest-free loans for deserving people to start businesses, while focus is mainly on completion of ongoing projects and schemes and future development programmes, the sources added. The sources also claimed, budget-makers were busy in finalising the Punjab budget 2016-17, and meetings held discussed means to increase tax revenues and broadening of existing tax net. To ensure welfare of the downtrodden and poor, no new tax is likely in Punjab budget 2016-17 and "special attention" is being given to the education, health, energy and infrastructure sectors, the sources added.
