Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) and Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited have agreed to cooperate for promotion and transfer of modern agriculture technologies, new variety of crops, machinery and scientific knowledge to small farmers to increase production of agriculture sector in order to meet the national goal of food security and to uplift the socio-economic condition of poor and small farmers of the country.
A high-level eight members delegation of ZTBL led by Farhat Karim Hashmi, Executive Vice-President, Planning Research and Technology Division (PRTD) visited National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) for this purpose. Chairman PARC Dr Nadeem Amjad, briefed the ZTBL delegation about presence of PARC in the provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK and FATA with its research centres and institutes to cover all ecological zones of the country. PARC beside agricultural research and co-ordination with provinces, and international organisations is also developing capacity of the agricultural research and extension staff of provinces and farmers of the country to improve agro-livestock production in the country on modern lines.
