The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided in principle to set up a training camp for two weeks in Britain beginning on June 16. Board sources said on Friday the decision to set up such a camp was to get complete familiar with conditions there. The Pakistan cricket team will play four test matches, five one-day internationals and one T-20, between July and September.
The sources told Business Recorder that their board was considering a proposal for shifting its September-October home series against the West Indies from the United Arab Emirates to Sri Lanka because of the high cost of playing in the Middle East. They claimed the board felt its United Arab Emirates counterparts were asking far too much for venues and accommodation, which made it difficult for them to profit from their home series, which have been played in there for the past several years. "The board has paid over $3.5 million for hosting the Pakistan Super League in Dubai and Sharjah this year," the sources said. "The board is also writing to its Sri Lankan counterpart soon."
