The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association has bought 109,965 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States in a tender which closed on Wednesday, European traders said. The wheat was bought for June/July shipment in two consignments, they said.
The first consignment for shipment between June 22 and July 6 comprised 22,949 tonnes of dark northern spring wheat of 14.5 percent protein content bought from trading house CHS at $240.10 a tonne fob, 17,902 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 13 percent protein content bought from ADM at $211.26 a tonne fob and 14,149 tonnes of soft white wheat with 10.5 percent protein bought from CHS at $204.59 a tonne fob, traders said.
The first consignment has an additional freight charge of $17.50 a tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan, they said. The second consignment for shipment between July 6 and 20 comprised 33,265 tonnes of dark northern spring wheat of 14.5 percent protein content bought from ADM at $241.65 a tonne fob and 21,700 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 13 percent protein content bought from ADM at $209.50 a tonne fob, they said.
The second consignment has an additional charge of $17.15 a tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan, they said. The association is a traditional buyer of US wheat. In its last reported tender on April 8, it bought 109,792 tonnes of milling wheat, also to be sourced from the United States.
