Iranian private buyers have purchased at least 60,000 tonnes of wheat from Germany in recent weeks for shipment in late May, traders said on Tuesday. "I think Iran has a requirement for high quality wheat for blending with lower grades," one trader said. "I have the impression Iran's own wheat harvest is not as good a quality as expected."
Some traders said more had been purchased. "There have been more inquiries from private buyers and negotiations were held for three shipments of around 60,000 tonnes each from Germany," one trader said. "The interest comes from private buyers, with the state purchasing agencies taking a back seat after the ending of sanctions."
