National Bank of Pakistan's former President Syed Ali Raza who had been on preventive bail was said to have left the courtroom surreptitiously after the Sindh High Court rejected his appeal for bail. He is facing a case field by NBP Union President Syed Jehangir. The accused and the petitioner were in the higher court where the lawyers from both sides gave their arguments. The SHC rejected the appeal for bail in this case. The accused then silently slipped away from the courtroom.
The petitioner's lawyer, Hamal Zaidi, told the SHC that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had passed an order for the recovery of the money the accused had allegedly minted through embezzlement and the apex court had also ordered the for deposit of the same money in the national exchequer. He further told the higher court that the SC has also ordered investigations by the National Accountability Bureau. A couple of days ago, former Local Government Secretary Ali Ahmed Lund had also fled the court.
