The residents of Baba Bhit Island on Tuesday blocked traffic on the Native Jetty Flyover to protest against acute shortage of water and prolonged electricity outages in their tiny island in Keamari Town of the city. Hundreds of residents of the island were chanting slogans against the government for not giving them water. They also lambasted the Karachi-Electric (KE) for its failure to supply electricity to the island properly.
The protest caused traffic jam on many roads such as Mauripur Road, Mai Kolachi Road and other streets. Public had to face trouble due to the prolonged traffic jams. The roads, however, opened after the protestors dispersed peacefully.
