Government Girls Degree College Manari Swabi clinched the overall trophy of the University of Swabi Inter-College Games which concluded here at University premises Umbar here on Friday. Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Professor Dr Mehar Taj Roghani was the chief guest on this occasion.
Vice Chancellor University of Swabi Professor Dr Noor Jehan, Director Sports and international gold medalist athlete Iltaf Hussain, coordinators Ihsan Khan and Owais Khan, members of various faculties, students and players of various affiliated colleges of both male and female were also present in the colourful closing ceremony. Government Girls Degree College Manari Swabi secured 190 points by winning the overall trophy in the Girls while University of Swabi with 240 points got the overall male Games trophy.
Promising Soumia Khan of Government Girls Degree College Karnal Sher Khan Village, was declared as best athlete of the Year-2016 as she won three gold and a silver medal in 100m, 200m, javelin throw and 1500m while Tariq of University of Swabi won the best athlete in the male athletic event when he won gold medal in 100m and Javelin throw and being part of the team in the 4X60m relay wherein Naseer, Shah Fahad and Sadiq Ullah of Geology Department teamed up.
