Punjab Assembly in its session on Tuesday adopted a resolution urging the government to confer Nishan-e-Pakistan upon Jamaat-e-Islami leaders Mullah Abdul Qadir, Maulana Qamar-u-Zaman, Salahudin Qadir Chaudhry Maulana Moteeh-ur-Rehman Nizami and Ali Ahsan Mujahid hanged in Bangladesh.
The house was chaired by Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal. The house in its session on Private Members Day, made introduction of Forest (Amendment) Bill 2016. In another resolution, the house applauded Orange Line Metro Train Project, terming it beneficial to the common man, lawyers, doctors and government servants. Through the resolution assembly applauded role of brotherly country China in the project. The house appreciated receiving of Rs 33 billion first instalment on the project. The resolution averred that it was for the first time that Rs 78.50 billion saving had occurred on Orange Line Metro Train Project.
The resolution further asked the provincial government to complete this project by the end of year 2017. In another resolution passed on the day, its mover asked the provincial government to appoint female persons in hospitals and laboratories dealing with female patients. Another legislator in a resolution passed during the session asked government to establish a university for Special Children.
In other resolution passed on the day mover asked the government to take measures to control inflation and curb hoarding. An opposition legislator in his resolution passed during the session asked government to take stock of illegal activity of lucky committees in the province.
At question-answer session, the Local Government & Community Development, parliamentary secretary in reply to a question said there was no flouting of laws with respect to one-dish in Wedding Halls. To another question, he stated that it was not elaborated in Local Government Act 2013 that how much population could constitute a rural or urban union council. He, however, said that under the act, population of 30,000 to 5, 00,000 could form a city municipal committee. The house was adjourned later by the chair.
