Sindh Chief Minister House has received 790 complaints of Karachiites against different federal and provincial organisations, most of them against K-Electric, Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) and SSGC while the complaints received from Interior Sindh were mostly against HESCO, SESCO and irrigation department.
This was disclosed in a meeting held here to brief the chief minister about the public complaints and their redressal.
The chief minister was told that during the month of April, the CM House complaint cell received 790 complaints from the city, of them 338 were against KE, 182 against KWSB, 113 against PTCL, 35 SSGC, 39 KMC and 48 against police.
The meeting was told that the complaints against KE were mostly of prolonged power outages, unannounced load-shedding, cable theft and billing issues. On this, the chief minister said that the KE must keep in mind that the entire city of Karachi was raising their voice against unannounced load-shedding. He added that the protest demonstration against the KE is on the rise. Now, the hospitals have also started complaining about power failure.
He said that due to prolong power outages people also face other problems like water supply. "The KE must keep in mind that this unannounced and prolong power failure during these hottest days can create law and order situation in the city," he said and added that the government was playing effective role to control the situation. "If anything happens like that the KE would be held responsible," he said categorically.
The chief minister also expressed his displeasure against KWSB and directed them to improve their performance and ensure water supply to the city properly. "Ramazan is approaching, therefore KE and water board must prepare their contingency plan to improve the performance of their organisation," he directed the categorically.
In the meeting it was also disclosed that more than 100 complaints have been received from interior areas of Sindh against Hesco and Sesco. The nature of complaints are more than 14 hours load-shedding, removal of transformers for non-payment of electricity bills by some of the consumers of the area and extorting money from residents of a locality for repair of their transformers, if it burns.
The chief minister directed his principal secretary Almauddin Bullo to compile the nature of complaints against KE, Hesco and Sesco and then verify them through different sources and then give detailed report so that these issues could be taken with the prime minister personally.
There were some complaints against irrigation department for which the chief minister directed secretary irrigation to personally visit the branches and distributaries to ensure provision of water at the tail-end.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Alamuddin Bullo, Incharge Complaints Cell Imtiaz Mallah and others.
The Incharge Complaint Cells told the chief minister that most of the complaints were redressed, except of loadshedding and removal of transformers.
