The prices of essential kitchen items have witnessed a slight increase during this past week compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder on Saturday revealed. The survey observed that Karaila in the wholesale market is being sold at Rs 150 per 5 kg, cucumber at Rs 80 per 5 kg, potato at Rs 1,800 per bag.
Green chillis with a reduction of Rs 50 per 5 kg are being available at Rs 300 per 5 kg against Rs 350 per kg, okra at Rs 200 per 5 kg, tinda at Rs 200 per 5 kg, maro kadu at Rs 160 per 5 kg and ginger at Rs 400 per 5 kg while garlic is being available at Rs 550 per 5 kg.
In the retail market, garlic is being sold at 150 per kg, ginger at Rs 100 per kg, bean at Rs 350 per 5 kg in the wholesale market which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 80 per kg and peas at Rs 350 per 5 kg in the wholesale market which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 85 per kg.
The lemon price witnessed an increase of Rs 100 per 5 kg in wholesales from Rs 700 per 5 kg to Rs 800 per 5 kg, which in retail market are being sold at Rs 180 per kg against Rs 160 per kg. Tinda in retail market is being available at Rs 25-40 per kg and capsicum in the wholesale market is being available at Rs 150 per 5 kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 40 per kg. Cabbage is being available at Rs 100 per 5 kg in wholesales, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 30 per kg, carrot is available at Rs 150 per kg in wholesales which in retail market is being sold at Rs 40 per kg, while cauliflower price witnessed an increase of Rs 20 per 5 kg in the wholesale market from Rs 180 per 5 kg to Rs 200 per 5 kg and in retail market is available at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Onions is being sold at Rs 150 per 5 kg in the wholesale market which in retail market is being sold at Rs 35-40 per kg, potatoes are being sold at Rs 25 per kg against Rs 20 per kg and brinjal with a reduction of Rs 10 per kg is being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 50 per kg.
According to survey, Nestle Company last week increased the milk pack price by Rs 5 per litre from Rs 110 per litre to Rs 115 per litre and other companies including Olper has also followed Nestle.
Chicken in the wholesale market is being sold at Rs 6,400 per 40 kg and Rs 165 per kg in retail market. Mutton is being sold at Rs 750 per kg in Islamabad and in Rawalpindi at Rs 700 per kg. Official prices of the boneless beef in Islamabad is Rs 460 per kg which shoppers are selling at Rs 480 per kg, while with bones Rs 360 per kg which is being sold at Rs 380 per kg.
The prices of entire range of pulses are stable in the wholesale markets as well as in retail market as white chickpeas are being sold at Rs 160 per kg and black chickpeas at Rs 150 per kg.
Malsh pulse in being sold at Rs 260 per kg, masoor at Rs 150 per kg, different qualities of mong pulse in the range of 140 to Rs 160 per kg, white lobia at Rs 120 per kg, while red and black lobia in the range of Rs 120-140 per kg.
Fruit prices are stable as peach is being sold at Rs 75 per kg, watermelon in the range of Rs 15-20 per kg, melon at Rs 40 per kg, normal quality local banana at Rs 60 per dozen and fine quality local banana at Rs 100 per dozen, while Indian banana is being sold at Rs 150 per dozen.
