Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said on Saturday that only strong communication system could boost up country's weak economy and demanded federal government to start work on western route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridors (CPEC) on priority basis and establish industrial zones and other uplift projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as par the agreement.
Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating road in Tangi and Charsadda, Aftab Sherpao added that his party aimed at constructing of better communication system in the province so as to give quick and timely access to traders in order to transport their agricultural and industrial products to the provincial, national and international markets.
QWP chief maintained that federal government should give keen focus to the western rout of the multi-billion CPEC project and construct economic opportunities zones at different parts of the militancy-hit province. "This project is a matter of life and death for the Pakhtuns and QWP will show strong resistance if the incumbents use delay tactics to give us due share as par agreement with Chinese government," he threatened.
Sherpao said that Fata Reforms Committee had visited all agencies in Fata to seek suggestions and recommendations from tribesmen, and now it should speed up work on reforms process in order to bring a sustainable and durable peace and economic prosperity in this belt. "To streamline the tribesmen, government should announce a comprehensive compensation package and ensure timely return to their homes," he demanded.
KP Senior Minister and QWP Provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, Special Assistant to CM KP Arshad Khan Umarzai and provincial Secretary Information Tariq Ahmad Khan were also present on the occasion.
