Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak has directed heads of all provincial departments for chalking out efficient planning for the use of the unutilised land owned by their departments to increase revenue of the province to make the departments self generating and self sufficient. This he said while presiding over a high level meeting convened to deliberate over rising of provincial revenue at chief minister House Peshawar on Monday.
Besides Senior Minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, Finance Minister Muzaffar Syed Advocate, Education Minister Mohammad Atif, Advisor to CM for Communication and Works Akber Ayub, Advisor to CM for Planning and Development Department Mian Khaliq Ur Rehman, Additional Chief Secretary Mohammad Azam Khan and administrative secretaries of the concerned departments attended the meeting. The Chief Minister directed heads of the departments for early identification and proper utilisation of the state owned land for commercial purpose to increase provincial revenues. He also ordered hiring of consultants and constitution of management committees in each department for this purpose. He directed to give final touches to the process till June in this regard.
The Chief Minister also appointed Secretary Relief, Ahmad Hanif Orakzai as in-charge to monitor the projects to be chalked out for utilisation of the state assets for revenue generating purpose. He directed to keep all the process transparent and according to rules. He also directed for initiating the necessary legislation to make the project workable.
The Chief Minister also ordered auction of obsolete machinery stored in the mechanical workshop of Irrigation Department. Moreover he asked concerned authority for planning construction of multi-storey building on the sites of the workshop. Similarly, he asked to complete small project in one year and big project in a period of 15 months.
Targets for Revenue generation for various departments were also fixed in the meeting. The Department of Communications and works was asked to generate Rs 2 billion while for Agriculture department 1 billion, Environment department 600 million, Industry Department 2 billion, Mine and mineral department 2.2 billion, local government department 2 billion, irrigation department 1 billion, Peshawar development Authority 6 billion, excise department 14 billion and Auqaf Department Rs 500 million was determined to generate.
