National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Karachi has disposed of 3267 complaints during year 2016, which is higher than the number of complaints settled in any preceding years. This was apprised by the Director General of NAB Karachi Colonel Siraj ul Naeem (Retd) during the visit of Chairman NAB at Karachi office here. He gave detailed briefing about the performance of NAB Karachi during 2015 and 2016 and highlighted its achievements in eradication of corruption.
He informed that on the directions of the Chairman NAB, inspection team conducted annual inspection of NAB Karachi on the basis of quantified grading system for the year 2015. During the briefing, DG NAB Karachi informed that NAB Karachi has disposed of 3267 complaints during the year 2016. The numbers of complaints disposed in 2016 was higher than the number of complaints disposed during this period of any the previous years.
In 2016, NAB Karachi, out of 109 complaints verifications (CVs), completed 33 complaint verifications. NAB Karachi out of 151 inquiries, completed 38 whereas out of 143 investigations 40 investigations were completed on merit.
During 2016, NAB Karachi has filed 50 corruption references during 2016. During 2016, NAB Karachi has recovered Rs 1304.965 million which is a record achievement. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB said that Bureau was committed to eradicate corruption by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy across the board by using all its resources. He said that NAB Karachi is one of the important regional bureaus of NAB and added that in view of the assessed annual performance for the year 2015 based on evaluation under quantified grading system conducted by Chairman's Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) during 2016 graded NAB Karachi's performance as outstanding/excellent with 88% operational efficiency index (OEI) which is highly appreciated.
He said that NAB Karachi's excellent performance under the supervision of DG NAB Karachi Colonel Siraj ul Naeem (Retd) has been more than any one past year in the history of NAB Karachi. He directed all officers/officials of NAB Karachi to work hard to further improve their excellent performance. He further directed all ranks of officers/officials of NAB Karachi to work more honestly, vigilantly and diligently in order to curb corruption and corrupt practices from the country.
