The 6th Convocation of Wah Medical College was held on Saturday (28th May) in the Auditorium of Wah Medical College, Wah Cantt. Chairman POF Board Lieutenant General Omar Mahmood Hayat, HI(M) was the chief guest for the occasion while Professor Major General Muhammad Aslam (Retd), Vice Chancellor the University of Health Sciences presided over the convocation.
The convocation marked the hailing of degrees for as may as 114 Medical Graduates of the academic sessions 2010-2015 in due recognition of their diligence and dedication.
Besides the bestowal of degrees, medals of distinction were conferred to best Graduates with outshining academic performance. Dr Hasaan Bin Arshad stood out as the Best Graduate for the session 2010-2015 with his glaring academic record of 14 gold medals, 05 silver and 03 bronze medals besides numerous other awards for academic excellence. He got the cash prize of 03 lacs rupees. Dr Toqeer Ejaz attained 2nd position for the session 2010-2015 with his glaring academic record of 4 gold medals, 05 silver and 03 bronze medals besides numerous other awards for academic excellence. He also got the cash prize of 02 lacs rupees. Dr Bushra Sohail attained 3rd position for the session 2010-2015 with her glaring academic record of 04 gold medals, 04 silver and 06 bronze medals besides numerous other awards for academic excellence. She got the cash prize of 01 lac rupees.
Addressing the auspicious gathering, Principal Wah Medical College, Professor Dr Wasim Uddin highlighted the significant contribution made by the faculty to place WMC at a high pedestal. He congratulated the fresh graduates and their parents for achieving the cherished dream of becoming a doctor.
The Principal presented the academic record of Wah Medical College. He also presented the achievements of students in co-curricular activities. He advised the graduates to follow this profession with vigour and passion. At the end, he thanked the chief guest and other guests for participating in the Convocation.
The chief guest for the occasion Lieutenant General Omar Mahmood Hayat, HI(M) Chairman POF Board was full of praise and complimented both the graduates and the faculty for their years of hard work that have led to the realisation of their dreams. He further expressed admiration for the favourable academic environment at Wah Medical College that has contributed tremendously to producing graduates of quality and excellence.
Thereafter he emphasised the demanding roles and responsibilities of young graduates as future Health Care Providers and the need of their commitment to raise the quality of healthcare delivered at the community and national level to meet the international standards.-PR
