Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government has also given special Ramzan package of billions of rupees for providing relief to the people this year in Ramazan like previous years. Concerned departments will have to work in a coordinated manner for benefiting the people from the fruits of exemplary Ramazan package, he added.
He said that duties have been assigned to the ministers, advisors, parliamentary secretaries and special assistants for monitoring of Ramazan bazaars and they will monitor implementation of Ramazan package.
He said that provision of relief and service to the people is our mission and for this purpose, Ramazan package of billions of rupees has been given for providing flour, ghee, rice, pulses, vegetables and other essential items to the people at concessionary rates in Ramazan.
He said it is our joint responsibility that fruits of Ramazan package should reach the masses. Issuing special directions to Provincial Cabinet Committee on Price Control regarding implementation of Ramazan package from London Sunday, Shahbaz Sharif said that elected representatives and administration will have to play their active role for providing daily use items to the people at affordable rates during this holy month. He directed that Price Control Committees should discharge their responsibilities in an efficient manner for maintaining the quality of edible items at fixed rates and spare no effort in ensuring the fruits of Ramazan package to the masses. He said that resources of billions of rupees have been given for providing quality daily use items to the people at cheaper rates during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak. He said that more than 300 Ramzan bazaars have been set up throughout the province. He said that 10kg flour bag will be available for Rs 290 in Ramazan bazaars whereas for Rs 310 in open market.
Similarly, 20kg flour bag will be made available for Rs620 in open market. The Chief Minister said that fruits, dates, vegetables and pulses will be available at concessionary rates at fair price shops in Ramazan bazaars. He directed that the price lists of essential items, fruits, vegetables and pulses should be displayed prominently in Ramazan bazaars and open markets. He said that relief should be ensured to the people at every cost and quality edible items be made available in abundance under Ramazan package.
Sharif said that profiteers and hoarders will not be allowed to exploit the people. He said that indiscriminate action should be continued against hoarders and profiteers. He directed that best facilities should be provided to the consumers in Ramazan bazaars besides arrangements of foolproof security should also be ensured. He said that Provincial Cabinet Committee on Price Control should monitor prices of daily use items in Ramazan bazaars on daily basis. He stressed upon provincial ministers, advisors, parliamentary secretaries and special assistants to pay visit to Ramazan bazaars regularly.
