Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar here on Monday addressed letters to all the Chief ministers', calling upon them to take steps to ensure that prices of various commodities remain stable in the month of Ramazan and that no price hike is allowed under any pretext. The Minister went on to say that the federal government would also closely monitor prices of different commodities in areas under its jurisdiction. Finance Minister stated that the government has announced a consumer and business-friendly budget. It has not announced any measures in the budget that could negatively impact prices of items of daily use by the common man.
Furthermore prices of petroleum products as per announcement on May 31 have also not been enhanced for the month of June as an effort to maintain price stability in the holy month of Ramadan. Given this fact, there is no question that anyone should indulge in profiteering, the minister remarked.
