Supreme Court on Wednesday questioned the legality of quarrying of Margalla Hills and cutting of trees from Lora Mountain and sought report over the issue from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments by June 13. Appearing before a three-member judge bench led by the Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali in a suo moto action regarding cutting of trees from Margalla Hills and Lora Mountain (KP) by stone crushing mafia, Deputy Attorney General for Pakistan said that KP and Punjab Police Inspector Generals have been directed to locate and stop stone crushing from their jurisdictions. Seeking comprehensive report in the issue from the KP and the Punjab government, the bench adjourned the hearing till June 13.
