The country's import of spices grew by 18 percent to $63.806 million in July-April 2015-16, official figures say. The spices import fell at $9.56 million in July-April 2015-16 as compared to the commodity's import of $54.246 million in July-April 2014-15, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics suggests. The spices import quantity also surged by 21.15 percent or 1160 metric tons to 17,065 metric tons in July-April 2015-16 from 15,905 metric tons in July-April 2014-15.
In April 2016, the spices import went up by 13.36 percent or $0.968 million to $8.216 million from $7.248 million in April 2015. In term of volume, the spices import mounted by 5.13 percent or 104 metric tons to 2,132 metric tons in April 2016 from 2,028 metric tons in April 2015.
