Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that government of Pakistan Muslim League-N has given Ramazan Package of billions of rupees for the provision of relief to the masses during Ramazan ul Mubarak, under which, quality essential items like flour, pulses, fruits and vegetables are being provided at cheaper rates in Ramazan bazaars.
The Chief Minister directed concerned officials not to spare any effort in provision of real relief to the masses in Ramazan bazaars and ensure availability of quality daily use items at affordable rates in the markets and bazaars. Indiscriminate action be taken against hoarders and profiteers so that prices of daily use commodities could be stabilised in markets and bazaars, he added.
He said that collusion of hoarders and profiteers will not be allowed to exploit the people and action will be continued against such elements without any discrimination. Shahbaz Sharif said that interests of the people will be safeguarded at every cost. He said that people cannot be left over the mercy of hoarders and profiteers and profiteers will not be allowed to exploit the masses.
He said that besides Ramazan Bazaars, quality edible items, fruits and vegetables should also be made available at reasonable rates for the people in markets and bazaars and members of Price Control Committees should play their active role in this regard. Issuing directions to Cabinet Committee on Price Control from London, the Chief Minister said that short measuring after receiving full price of the items is not justified and short weighing is tantamount to exploitation therefore short measuring will not be tolerated.
He said that it is the responsibility of members of price control committees to take effective action those involved in short weighing. Indiscriminate action should be taken against the elements involved in less weighing in Ramazan Bazaars and markets, he added. Shehbaz Sharif further directed that provincial ministers, advisors, special assistants, elected representatives and concerned authorities should pay regular visits to Ramazan bazaars and ensure prices, quality and abundant supply of daily use items at every cost.
He said that under Ramazan package, provision of relief to the people is responsibility of all of us as well as an obligation therefore, it should be ensured that fruits of Ramazan package of billions of rupees should reach the masses at all costs and no negligence or laxity will be tolerated in this regard.
