Provincial Minister for Labour & Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that Punjab government will fully utilise the services of well-known international advocacy firm Mckinsey & Company for skill training, accreditation and employment of two million youth of the province under Punjab Growth Strategy 2018.
More than 15 GCCs Construction and trade companies have shown keen interest to employee trained graduates of Punjab for completion of mega projects of UAE, Saudia Arabia and other countries. He stated this during a meeting with Partner Head Mckinsey & Company Limited, Tom Isherwood. Associate Principal Mckinsey & Company Taimur Khan, CEO Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF), Ali Akbar Bosan and officers of Labour department were also present on the occasion.
The minister said that Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed great interest in demand based technical and vocational education and training of youth parallel to formal education so as to create job opportunities in local and international labour market.
Punjab government has rendered services of internally accredited advocacy companies including Mckinsey to provide an appropriate and actionable plan to meet the target of preparation of two million skilled labour till 2018, he added.
The minister apprised the meeting that syllabus of technical training institutes including Tevta, PVTC and PSDF has been revamped and a Placement Cell has already started functioning under Tevta, sending thousands of skilled graduates abroad for completion of mega construction projects. Mckinsey Head Tom Isherwood lauded the efforts of Punjab government for preparing provincial skilled labour force by institutional restructuring and up-gradation of courses. He stressed upon the need to formulate an effective mechanism engine to deliver speedy results and ensured his complete support to Punjab government in this regard.
