Pakistan is blessed with a diverse and vibrant chemical industry having the potential to become a regional/global player. Association (PCMA) is formed to translate this potential into reality. PCMA's mission is to become an apex body central to the political and regulatory process of the chemical industry and is to be valued and trusted by the government, academia and community at large.
CHEMNAMA- PCMA
Almost every one of us has heard of two notoriously famous metaphors that Pakistan is passing through a defining moment and secondly that Pakistan has huge untapped potential of natural resources. The first statement has political implications so we will shy away from elaborating it. However, we believe that the second statement is true and one of the future editions of CHEMNAMA will bring statistical data and analysis of the chemical industry related natural resources.
LAND OF OPPORTUNITY:
Tapping the potential of USD 8.5 Billion: Chemical industry is a major contributor to the world's economy where the annual consumption of chemicals stands out at USD 4.6 trillion. Pakistan has yet to realise its true potential in this sector. Few segments of the Pakistani chemical industry are fairly developed in basic chemicals including fertiliser, oil refining, sulfuric acid, soda ash and chloralkali. In the past decade, the industry has also witnessed steady growth in some of the emerging subsectors including textile and tanning chemicals, polyester, synthetic fiber, paints, varnishes and miscellaneous coatings.
