A local court in Islamabad on Thursday approved Senator Hafiz Hamdullah's interim bail till June 23 in a case pertaining to allegedly threatening woman rights activist with severe consequences during a live TV debate. A case was registered against the JUI-F's Senator Hafiz Hamdullah on a complaint of Marvi Sirmed who accused him of verbally abusing and trying to physically attack her during a live television debate on honour killing.
The incident happened during a private TV talk show last week when Mr Hamdullah became furious at Marvi Sirmed for speaking against honour killing. According to the footage widely circulated on social media, the lawmaker used foul language against the activist and tried to attack her.
