The advisor to the Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has expressed dissatisfaction over the anti-dengue activities carried out by the government departments in Rawalpindi and warned "If dengue epidemic situation prevailed in Rawalpindi, government departments concerned would be held responsible".
"Nothing is more precious than human life, zero tolerance must be shown in dengue control activities and dengue control activities and surveillance should be continued during the holidays of Eid-ul-Fitr," Salman said while presiding over a meeting to review the dengue control measure in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
Besides, DCO Rawalpindi Talat Mehmood Gondal, officers of districts administration and senior officers of government departments concerned attended the meeting. Khawaja Salman Raffique said that as per instructions of the Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, all resources including human resource are being provided to the departments and institutions concerned according to their needs. He said that Dengue Expert Advisory Group has imparted training to the doctors and nurses for case management of dengue. He said that field formations of dengue surveillance have also been trained in their field.
Salman further said that district governments as well as provincial department regularly monitoring the anti-dengue activities to ensure effective control on dengue. He said that since the government is providing maximum resources and facilitating the departments therefore, no negligence from any department would be acceptable. He said that the provincial government is closely watching the performance of all the stakeholders. He said that last year there were a lot of dengue patients reported in Rawalpindi but due to extraordinary arrangements in the hospitals hundreds lives of dengue patients were saved.
