DCO Salman Ghani visited the low lying areas of the industrial city after pre monsoon rains and checked the arrangements of WASA for discharging the rain water. He went to Riaz Shahid Chowk, Bashir Nizami Railway Station, Chowk GTS, Samundri road, Main Bazar Allama Iqbal Colony and other areas and reviewed the process of drainage of water. He directed the WASA officers to put all resources on high alert for prompt rescue operation during the expected heavy rains in forthcoming monsoon season.
He advised that the all machinery including dewatering sets should be placed near the low lying areas and accumulated rain water should be drained out after rain so that the usual life of the citizens could not be suffered. He directed that the all departments including PHA, Faisalabad Waste Management Company, TMAs, WASA and other concerned departments should work jointly in case of any emergency like situation during the rains.
He said that the roads and other ways should immediately be cleaned after rain for the relief of public. The DCO also inspected the WASA Emergency Camps and directed for ensuring presence of staff and relevant machinery. He said that people complaints about the overflow of sewerage system and accumulation of rain water should immediately be redressed. Deputy Managing Director WASA Chaudhry Shaukat Mehmud informed the DCO about the details of arrangements made by WASA for the prompt disposal of rain water from the low lying areas.
