The Punjab Education Foundation has called for execution of instructions by the Punjab government against dengue to rid its offices and partnering schools of the mosquito-borne tropical disease. Managing Director Tariq Mahmood chairing a weekly co-ordination meeting of programme directors at his office on Wednesday said.
"The Punjab government is fully committed to combating this deadly disease and the foundation is steadfastly abiding by the government's instructions. Partner schools are repeatedly instructed about adopting anti-dengue measures in their institutions." He also said the rain-water should be drained out quickly.
"The foundation is committed to ensuring that clean and conducive atmosphere is arranged for students so that they can study in a healthy atmosphere," he added. The gathering also reviewed expansion timelines of different free education programmes. It emerged that the total number of the foundation's beneficiaries had risen to more than two million with 45 percent of girls."The foundation is playing an important role in achieving the goals of 'Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab' as a 100-percent enrolment is planned by 2018. This access to education will definitely help the needy to improve their standard of living. Information and communication technologies have been a great help to smoothly run and expand organisational systems," he said. The programme directors too briefed their audience on their programme performance.
