The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority is to train the unemployed youth for free as security guards through a five-week course which will start next month in 14 cities across the province. The announcement by Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh came in his address on Wednesday while meeting at his organisation's secretariat where he talked about the course providing professionally trained manpower to security companies.Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi too was present.
"This course is being launched at 19 of our institutes with the collaboration of the Home Department, Police, Civil Defence, Rescue 1122 and Elite Police Training School in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Attock, Sheikhpura, Faisalabad, Mianwali, Multan, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rahim Yar Khan," he told his audience.
"The age limit for admission is between 18 and 45. Matric candidates are eligible though intermediate and above are given preference for admission. Free training material and Rs 1,000 stipends will also be provided during the training." He also said after the training they would be able to get jobs at home and abroad.
