The Karachi Port handled 183,168 tonnes of cargo comprising 158,065 tonnes of import cargo and 25,103 tonnes of export cargo including 5,701 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 158,065 tonnes comprised of 25,244 tonnes of containerised cargo; 19,482 tonnes of general cargo; 42,411 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 36,162 tonnes of coal; 1,696 tonnes of soyabean meal; 920 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 3,633 tonnes of canola and 70,928 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,103 tonnes comprised of 21,109 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,794 tonnes of misc decoration and 2,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,701 containers comprising of 2,414 containers import and 3,287 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 718 of 20's and 848 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 442 of 20's and 510 of 40's loaded containers while 357 of 20's and 734 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were two ships namely MSC Imma and Ever Precious carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. MOL Devotion, DL Lavender and Oriental Queen carrying containers, iron powder and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Cape Marine, Bochem Antwerp and Alexandrit carrying containers, oil tanker and steel respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday while two ships namely Veenus and Dato Success carrying meal and steel are expected to sail on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. Cosco Sao Paulo, Hyundai Brave and MT Shalamar carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while three vessels viz. APL Coral, Al Abdali and Kiran Anatolia carrying containers and coal respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 160,264 tonnes comprising 126,729 tonnes of import cargo and 33,535 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,491 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 126,729 tonnes includes 30,859 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,735 tonnes of canola seeds; 2,529 tonnes of chemical; 3,551 tonnes of soyabean; 1,011 tonnes of LPG; 35,000 tonnes of LNG; 17,250 tonnes of coal and 32,794 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo includes 33,535 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely MV Orion-3 and MT Album carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Kinloss and CV Al-Khor carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Calidris, CV Conti Annapurna, CV Maersk Kinloss, MV Julia Oldendroff, MV Trans Shanghai, MV Orion-3, MT Album, MT Globe Tanya, MT White Purl and MT Umm Bab currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola seeds, soyabean seeds, chemical, LPG, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely CV Maipo, MV Kypros Sky, MV Tai Progress, MV Ocean Prince, MV Orient Star, MT Spirit and MT Black Pearl carrying containers, canola seeds, soyabean, diesel oil, furnace oil and LPG were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday. There were four vessels viz. CV Maipo, MV Ocean Prince, MV Atlantic Glory and MV Orient Star carrying containers, soyabean seeds, chemical and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FAP Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were six ships namely CV MSC Athens, CV Maersk Innoshima, MT Maran Gas Asclepius, MV Kiran Anatolia, MV Atlantic Glory and MT Okyroe carrying containers, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV TG Posidon and MT San Christobal carrying containers and diesel oil due to arrive on Friday.
