The Karachi Port handled 138,340 tonnes of cargo comprising 113,139 tonnes of import cargo and 25,201 tonnes of export cargo including 5,517 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 113,139 tonnes comprised of 42,435 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20,462 tonnes of general cargo; 28,582 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 20,860 tonnes of coal; 2,257 tonnes of soyabean meal; 933 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 4,532 tonnes of canola and 21,660 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,201 tonnes comprised of 9,874 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30 tonnes of general cargo; 13,997 tonnes of iron powder and 1,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,517 containers comprising of 3,198 containers import and 2,319 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,048 of 20's and 948 of 40's loaded while 10 of 20's and 122 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 357 of 20's and 52 of 40's loaded containers while 486 of 20's and 686 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Cape Marine, Bochem Antwerp, Green Belt, MT Quetta, Dato Success and Alexandrit carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Cosco Sao Paulo, MT Karachi, Nave Rigel, Kraszewski and Josco Huizhou carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely Veenus, Morning Concert, Kraszewski, Oriental Queen and Ru Yi Song carrying meal, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday while another ship namely Spar Corona carrying coal is expected to sail on Saturday.
There were four vessels viz. APL Coral, Al Abdali, Hyundai Brave and Kiran Anatolia carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Friday while seven vessels viz. Cosco Wellington, TG Poseidon, RHL Concordia, YM Oakland, Selay-S, Zulal and BSLE Pacific carrying containers, oil tanker, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
As many as 2,800 containers comprising of 1,700 containers import and 1,100 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were four ships namely CV Maipo, MV Julia Oldendroff, MT White Purl and MT Umm Bab carrying containers, coal, palm oil and diesel oil sailed out to sea on Friday afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Maipo, CV Conti Annapurna, MV Julia Oldendroff, MV Trans Shanghai, MV Ocean Prince, MT Globe Tanya, MT White Purl, MT Atlantic Glory, MT Umm Bab and MT Orient Starcurrently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola seeds, soyabean seeds, chemical, LPG, LNG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely CV San Christobal, MV Kypros Sky, MV Tai Progress, MT Spirit, MT Gas Lion and MT Black Pearl carrying containers, canola seeds, soyabean, furnace oil and LPG were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday. There were three vessels viz. CV San Christobal, CV Maersk Innoshima and MT Bhai Ravi carrying containers and chemical expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were four ships namely MT Maran Gas As Clepius, MV Kiran Antolia, MT Spirit and MT Okyroe carrying LNG, coal and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There is one ships namely CV MSC Athens carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday. There are three ships namely CV MSC Vittoria, CV TG Posidon and CV Anke carrying containers due to arrive on Sunday.
