The newly appointed British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, Belinda Lewis, called on Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, at the Governor House here on Wednesday. The out-going British Deputy High Commissioner, John Tucknott, was also present. On the occasion, Ebad spoke of close friendly ties between Pakistan and Britain. He said that the economic relations between the two countries have been increasing with the passage of every day.
The Governor also mentioned the setting up of British Business Centre established by the UK government in Karachi and added that this would play an important role towards further enhancing the economic ties. He pointed out that many of the Pakistan companies and organisations have set up their offices in Britain and several of the Pakistani products are being exported to UK. Ebad also thanked the UK government and the people for their contributions towards the promotion of democratic process.
He pointed out that in the province of Sindh many projects have been taken up with the collaboration of Britain especially in the realms of education. Governor also praised the role of out-going UK Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, John Tucknott, and his role for enhancing the economic and commercial ties and also mentioned the establishment of British Business Centre in Karachi. The new UK Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, Belinda Lewis, said that she would do her best to help further enhance the ties and cooperation between Britain and Pakistan.
