Here are our guidelines for trendy and traditional mehndi designs 2016.
Keep it simple: If you are new to mehndi application or too busy to spare your precious time at beauty parlors then it is better to apply simple and easy to make designs like creeper, circles, round design at the palm, and back of your hands. Fill up your fingertips with your mehndi cone so that your design immediately appears complete. To fill up the empty spaces, use simple motifs like mangoes, or trailing dots. Mehndi designs that look like rings are also easy enough to work out. It is the simplest way to add beauty to your hands and feet.
It is easy for professional and henna experts to draw small and intricate designs on your hands and feet. If you are doing by yourself then try to make bigger designs because the bigger your elements are, the easier it is to draw them perfectly. Once you set the map for your mehndi design, fill it up with other smaller elements.
Say it with floral pattern: Traditional floral mehndi designs are popular among women of all ages as they symbolises pure happiness, joy and beauty of the nature. The floral design consists of main flower in the center with dots, little circles, squares, diamonds, triangles, criss-cross, diagonal lines and half circles. Tiny leaves, small flowers, half spheres and twisted lines one also popular.
Another idea is to draw the small flower and cover entirely with a large flower and then followed by small flowers. Decorate the tip-off the fingers with small flower below the nails.
The use of leaves in mehndi designs typically Arabian style. Leaf henna designs often represent devotion and vitality it is a simple and elegant design and can be used to fill the empty spaces. In addition, this design does not require very much precision so you can incorporate it the next time when you want to colour your hands with henna.
Experiment with the shaded designs: The latest trend of Eid 2016 is shaded design mehndi. This is a combination of light and dark shades, which gives the design a very attractive look. It can be a beautiful amalgamation of gold, royal blue, and purple shades. If you prefer simple shade, then draw a single large size flower and fill the petals with shades of your choice.A popular shaded design is the swirl design. The design consists of floral motifs and the inner part is shaded beautifully. The black shade of this type of mehndi design stands out against the lighter tone of skin.
Be creative: Peacock mehndi designs are one of the most popular style to decorate hands. This design has a very pretty and feminine look. You can simply give center place to the peacock without any other additional pattern for the enhancement or add net shades and floral designs just like Arabian mehndi style.
A new and trendy mehndi style is to draw ring and bangles design on fingers and wrist. For a ring design, it is not necessary to draw it on every finger; drawing it on one of the fingers will also give look stylish. This design helps your finger to stand out and is very different from the ordinary designs.
In bangle design, the bangle is made by henna or mehndi on the wrist. The bangle pattern consists of either floral or spiral design or combination of both.
Geometry in henna: Featuring geometrical shapes on hands and feet is a traditional mehndi style. Mehndi experts draw squares, rhombus, circle and triangles in every design and almost no mehndi design is complete without the outline of geometric shapes. The simple henna design with small flowers and wristband design with a central diamond shaped blend of geometric patch is for those who do not want lavish design. You can choose circular henna design looks like a floral design representing the sun.
Tips of long lasting mehndi:
-- Get a good quality cone. If the mehndi is pure, it will work. Fresh mehndi powder will produce a strong dark brown colour and will last longer. Stale mehndi will produce a light orange color, which will not get darker over time.
-- Once mehndi is applied on the skin, it may be left overnight or left on for at-least 4 hours to enhance the deepness in colour.
-- Lemon Juice and sugar syrup can be applied with cotton wool on the mehndi once it is dried. This will secure the mehndi on the skin moreand therefore, result in the darkness of the color on the skin. Application may be repeated, if mehndi feels dry and hard.
-- The use of black "henna" should be avoided as it contains a dangerous chemical called Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) found in hair dyes which causes skin irritations.
-- Use baby oil to scrub off the mehndi instead of washing it with water or soap. Just apply it on the dried mehndi, use a thick card to gently scrape the mehndi design from your hands. Apply mustard oil after you apply mehndi. It is a great colour stimulant.
-- Heat a pan and put few cloves on it. Then warm your hands in the steam that comes off the pan.
-- When choosing a mehndi design, select a design, which has both thick and thin lines. Thicker lines usually result in a darker shade and thinner lines act as filler or give emphasis on the main design.
-- Refrigerate your cones after the first use. This will ensure that the mehndi cone will last even for second use.
-- Manicures, pedicures and waxing must be done before mehndi is applied on hands and feet otherwise mehndi will be waxed off with the hair.
Happy Eid Mubark.
