The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has achieved its target of collecting Rs 20 billion in the financial year ended June 30. According to a statement issued here on Sunday, the MCC has also surpassed the target assigned to it by the Federal Board of Revenue by about Rs 1 billion for the financial year 2015-16.
It has said that on the last working day, June 30, the MCC succeeded in collecting Rs 456 million that is a record collection for any single day.
The release further said the target was achieved despite repeated closure of Customs Stations in Torkham and other stations, including that in Kurram Agency during the last financial year, while clearances also suffered substantially at Peshawar Dry Port and industrial estates of Gadoon and Hattar due to the surcharge on imports by the provincial government.
