Google has simplified its 2-Step Verification process so that users no longer need to remember and type in a code on a mobile device, but can simply say OK with a tap of the finger.
The 2-Step means users are required to do more than just enter their username and password to log into a corporate internet portal. They also need to respond to a prompt that arrives on a different device, typically a mobile phone.
To date, they have been required to copy a one-time numerical code to prove they are who they say they are. But the new option allows them to simply tap a button saying, "Yes, Allow Sign-In."
If your employer tells you it is offering the new option, you will be enable it on your own phone by going to Sign-In & Security, then Signing in to Google, then 2-Step Verification in My Account.
Android users must have an Google Play Services up to date to use Google Prompt, while iOS devices need to have the Google Search app installed on their phone.
