The Met Office on Monday forecasted rains for parts of the upcountry from Wednesday to Friday when Pakistani nation will be enjoying Eid holidays. It said that rain coupled with thunderstorm and isolated heavy falls accompanied by windstorm was likely to hit scattered places in Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Kashmir from Wednesday to Friday. It alerted the citizens to a high risk of flash flooding in hilly areas.
"Monsoon incursion will continue in upper and some central parts of the country during the current week, particularly during the Eid Holidays," it said.
The tourist destinations such as Murree, Galliyat, Malakand and Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are expected to receive, at times, heavy rains during Eid days, it said. The downpours are feared to trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas. The office advised the tourists to follow weather updates and directives of the NDMA and NHA.
