Leaders of United Business Group (UBG) on the demise of world renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi due to kidney failure on Friday night said, Pakistan has lost an angel of mercy who was a ray of hope for the poor and destitute across Pakistan.
Patron-in-chief of United Business Group (UBG), S M Munir, Chairman UBG Iftikhar Ali Malik, secretary Zubair Tufail, Dr Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig, Malik Khuda Baksh, Munir Sultan, and other UBG members expressed deep grief on the sad demise of renowned social worker and philanthropist, Moulana Abdul Sattar Edhi. "We have lost our most beloved angel of mercy who was a ray of hope for the poor as he was running the world's largest ambulance service, nursing homes, orphanages, clinics and women shelters, along with drug rehabilitation centre's and soup kitchens across the country" the UBG leaders said.
They said that Pakistan has lost a great servant of humanity; he was the real manifestation of love for those who were socially vulnerable, impoverished, destitute and poor. Abdul Sattar Edhi devoted his entire life to the destitute and needy people without any discrimination which will be long remembered, they added. UBG leaders said that Edhi enjoyed respect the world over but was content with owning just two pairs of clothes and he never owned a house.
The announcement of his death triggered a wave of tributes on the social media and Pakistani press, indicating affection of the masses for this noble man. Edhi was a humanitarian to the core who also served people other than in Pakistan, they added. The Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI), President Zahid Saeed, senior-vice president Saleem Uzzaman, vice-president Syed Wajid Hussain and KATI Executive Committee member SM Muneer, also expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the sad demise of renowned social worker, Abdul Sattar Edhi. President KATI said that Edhi was a great person and a great Pakistani, he was the pride of Pakistan and his services for humanity are invaluable.
KATI office-bearers prayed for the departed soul and said Edhi was a standard bearer of humanity and an example for all people who want to serve the community. Association of builders and developers Pakistan (ABAD), Chairman Muhammad Hanif Gohar, patron-in-chief Mohsin Shekhani, senior-vice chairman Arif Yousuf Jeewa, vice-chairman Rizwan Adhia, chairman Southern Region Asif Sam Sam, convenor ABAD Haris Ali Mithani, former chairmen and members expressed their deep grief over the demise of philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi.
They said that Edhi lived to serve humanity with sole simplicity. "People like him are born in centuries", they added. ABAD pays tribute to the great patriot Abdul Sattar Edhi, who devoted his entire life to serve the nations poor. His legacy will continue to inspire generations, his memories will live in our hearts a long-time, they said.
Chairman and the office bearers of ABAD have also expressed condolences and sympathies to his family and prayed that the Almighty shower his blessings on family members and grant them strength to carry Edhi's mission forward. Head of UAE's Business Group and Chairman Al-Zarooni Foundation, Suhail Mohd Al-Zarooni, while expressing deep grief and sorrow on the sad demise of Edhi, termed his death a national loss.
In a condolence message, Sohail Al-Zarooni paid glowing tribute to the Abdul Sattar Edhi who devotedly served humanity and positively promoted Pakistan the world over. Edhi will be remembered long for his exceptional services to humanity He said that UAE fully appreciates and recognises the efforts made by Abdul Sattar Edhi towards serving the humanity which cannot be overlooked or forgotten by the world. He prayed that the departed soul be granted eternal rest and members of the bereaved family be granted solace to bear their loss.
