The Patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hindu Council and Member of National Assembly Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has expressed extreme grief on the sad demise of renowned philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi. In a condolence message issued here on Saturday, Dr Ramesh paid rich tribute to the great services of late Edhi, saying that Edhi had always actively participated in the annual mass wedding ceremonies organised by Pakistan Hindu Council in honour of the poor Hindu couples.
"Recently, Pakistan Hindu Council delegation had also visited him to enquire about his health," he said. While appealing to the Hindu community for special prayers, Dr Ramesh Vankwani also vowed to follow the footsteps of late Edhi for serving the humanity. Meanwhile, President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gohar Ullah and members of the executive committee have expressed their deep grief and shock over the sad demise of iconic social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi.
In a condolence message, they said that the services of Abdul Sattar Edhi always be remembered in the history as he set a direction for other social workers to serve the humanity without any reward. Abdul Sattar Edhi had spent his life for humanity and his services were recognised world over, they said and added that he was the hope of orphans, poor, unclaimed and helpless people of the country.
They vowed that business continue would move the mission of Abdul Sattar Edhi forward as he is a icon of the social work and earned good name for Pakistan. They suggested observing July 8 every year as Edhi Charity Day to pay tributes to Abdul Sattar Edhi.
They expressed sympathies with Bilquees Edhi and Faisal Edhi and prayed to Allah Almighty for the rest of departed soul in eternal peace. President Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry Muhammad Akram Ansari has expressed his deep shock and grief on the sad demise of renowned social worker Addul Sattar Edhi and termed his death a great loss for Pakistan.
In a condolence message, he said that Abdul Sattar Edhi was the icon of Pakistan who set one of the biggest networks of charity services in Pakistan and also served the humanity abroad. He said that the death of Abdul Sattar Edhi had created a major gulf in the field which could not be bridged in the recent future. He appealed to the government to observe July 8 every year as Edhi Day in recognition of his services for the welfare of the poor and deserving people as well as orphans and unclaimed children of the country. While expressing sympathies with Bilquees Edhi and Faisal Edhi, he prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
The Vice Chancellor Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro Professor Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili has expressed his shock and grief over the sad demise of Abdul Sattar Edhi and termed it a great loss of the country. In a condolence message, he saluted the struggle of Abdul Sattar Edhi and said that he spent his entire life for the cause of humanity and become the supporter of the poor and deserving persons as well as orphans and unclaimed children. The ambulance service of Abdul Sattar Edhi had set a world record which is unforgettable in the history of the country; he said and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace. The death of iconic social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi was mourned by the people of Hyderabad and its vicinity here on Saturday.
The federal government has already announced the observing of one day morning while Sindh Government announced three days of mourning on the demise of Abdul Sattar Edhi. The national flag was hoisted at half mast at all public buildings of Hyderabad while in many parts of Hyderabad City, Latifabad and Qasimabad Talukas, the business activities were closed throughout the day. Quran Khawani and Fateha Khawani were also held in different parts of the district for the rest of departed soul while large numbers of the people also visited the offices of Edhi Foundation where they expressed sympathies with the volunteers on the demise of Abdul Sattar Edhi.
