Renowned philanthropist and social activist Abdul Sattar Edhi passed away leaving a void in the social setup of Pakistan as he selflessly served the ailing and the needy of Pakistan. APNS pays tribute to the legendary humanitarian who spent his entire life in the service to the people of the country. Sarmad Ali, President of APNS, on behalf of Pakistan's newspaper fraternity offers condolences to Begum Bilqis Eidhi, Faisal Eidhi and the entire Edhi Foundation family.
He stated that Abdul Sattar Edhi was a torch-bearer of selfless service to humanity. With his passing away, the downtrodden of Pakistan have been deprived of a relentless and dedicated social worker, who was like a father and a brother to them. He served all Pakistanis across the country irrespective of their caste, religion or creed. He spent most of his time with the orphans living in his foundation, taking his ambulances wherever a calamity arose or bathing the dead for their final rituals. For him, humanitarianism was the truest manifestation of Islam. Edhi was a giant who lived in the times of dwarfs.
"APNS pays homage to Edhi for his life long struggle to help people in the hour of their need and grief. We hope that what Edhi started in the form of Edhi Foundation and Edhi Trust, will continue to serve our coming generations in the same Edhi spirit. Let us remember him as the greatest humanitarian from the soil of Pakistan," he concluded.-PR
