The business community has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of renowned social worker-Abdul Sattar Edhi and termed it a national loss saying that he was icon of Pakistan. The LCCI office bearers; President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Senior Vice President Almas Hyder and Vice President Nasir Saeed in their joint statement on Saturday said the entire nation is in a state of shock and gloom on the death of Abdul Sattar Edhi.
They said that the country is deprived of a great human being. "Abdul Sattar Edhi was a world renowned philanthropist, social activist and a true humanitarian. "May Allah rest Edhi soul in eternal peace and give him best place in Jannah. He was a real gem and asset for Pakistan. We have lost a great servant of humanity. He was the real manifestation of love for those who were socially vulnerable, impoverished, helpless and poor. This loss is irreparable for the people of Pakistan," the LCCI office-bearers said.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) also expressed profound grief over the death of legendary philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, who devoted his life to help the poor and the needy. We have lost our most beloved angel of mercy who was a ray of hope for the poor as he was running world's largest ambulance service, as well as nursing homes, orphanages, clinics and women's shelters, along with rehabilitation centres and soup kitchens across the country, said FPCCI President Abdul Rauf Alam.
The FPCCI's Senior Vice President Khalid Tawab, Secretary General United Business Group Zubair Tufail and others, said, "We have lost a great servant of humanity; he was the real manifestation of love for those who were socially vulnerable, impoverished, helpless and poor". Abdul Sattar Edhi devoted his entire life for the needy people without any discrimination which will be long remembered, they added.
Abdul Rauf Alam said that Edhi who enjoyed unparalleled respect across the world remained happy with just two sets of clothes, and never established a home for his own children. The announcement of his death triggered a wave of tributes on media which indicate love and faith of masses the noble man enjoyed. Edhi, the super humanitarian, not only served people in Pakistan but also in Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Croatia, Indonesia, and in the US after Hurricane Katrina, he said.
