Pakistani parliamentarians have started a five days study tour of European Parliamentarian from Monday. The delegation comprising members of Senate and National Assembly would continue the tour till Friday (July 15) to know about the working of European and Belgian Parliament. Another parliamentary delegation is also visiting British Parliament the same week.
The delegation of Senate, National Assembly was briefed about the European Parliament's history, working and infrastructure on the first day of the tour. The delegation comprises Senator Salahuddin Tirmizi, Senator Hilal Ur Rehman, MNA SA Qadri, MNA Muhammad Salmon Khan Baloch, MNA Shabbir Ali Bajarani, MNA Ramesha Lal, Deputy Secretary HRD Senate Haris Rehman, Director Reporting Senate Faheem Ahmed, Assistant Director Media Senate Shahana Afsar, Director IR National Assembly Waseem Iqbal and co-ordinator Anam Akram.
The delegation on the start of the visit was given a trip around the European Parliament's building in Brussels, capital of Belgium and also widely known as the capital of Europe by Tim Boden, Administrator, democracy and elections actions unit at the EU Parliament, said a message received here. Later in the day, members of the delegation were given briefings by Ms. Monika Nogaj of external policies unit, Urska Dolinsek of the seminars unit, Wolfgang Hiller director of impact assessment and Chiara Malasomma head of transparency unit. The delegation was also given a tour of the beautifully kept European Parliament's library by Karin Finer and was briefed about the on site and online library services.
