Pakistan Customs has seized a huge consignment 170 costly smart phone sets of different brands at Bacha Khan International Airport. According to a spokesman of Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar (MCCP) the mobile sets had been recovered from baggage of a passenger arriving from Dubai (DXB) on PK-284.
Of the phone sets, he said 73 were Apple-I phone 6, 78 Samsung (assorted), five Sony Xperia Z5, nine Samsung Galaxy S7, two were HTC and three were LG DL6.
It was stated that in pursuance of credible information, vigilance of incoming passengers availing 'Green Channel' was enhanced at international arrival over the past one week and subsequently the consignment was detected through detectors.
Since the import of cellular phones is restricted and is subject to PTA authorisation which was not available with the passenger, therefore, the mobile phone sets were seized under relevant provisions of Customs Act 1969. The estimated market price of the seized mobile phones sets, he said was around Rs10millions.
