The Gujranwala Electricity Power Company (GEPCO) has restored the zero loadshedding regime for the Golden Export Triangle-Sialkot, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Wazirabad after a month.
It may be added that about 60 percent of Pakistan's Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's) are located in this region of Export Triangle of the country comprising Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala -a dynamic and entrepreneurial industrial cluster and home to Pakistan's light engineering Industry and cottage industry.
GEPCCO spokesman told Business Recorder that before Ramadanul Mubarik GEPCO was supplying 24 hours electricity to the industrial sector of its region comprising Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad districts.
However, he said that on the instructions of Ministry of Water and Power this schedule of 24 hours electricity supply to the industries was temporarily changed to supply uninterrupted electricity to the people during the Sehri, Iftari and Travee timings.
"Now after the Eid-ul Fitr-the previous schedule of zero loadshedding for the industrial sector has been restored. Likewise the schedule of electricity supply prior to Ramadan for feeders of all categories has also been restored.
Under this schedule, he said 6 hours load shedding is being carried out on the urban, residential and commercial feeders and eight hours on the feeders of the rural areas.
