Former senior vice president, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KPCCI) and president, Frontier Customs Agents Group (FCAG), KP Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi has called for introduction of automatic refund system to redress the complaints of business community.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said that like developed countries, Pakistan should also form automatic system to transfer the amount of refund directly to the account of exporters. He said that the adoption of automatic refund system will promote transparency and encouragement of the exporters.
Sarhadi said that with the adoption of automatic refund system, the exporters will not only take sigh of relief, but will also minimise the burden of work on the officials of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
He complained that some time despite the issuance of order of the payment of refund to exporters by Regional Tax Office (RTO), they are not issued the cheques, which is affecting their capacity. He said that after rendering deprived of working capital they are forced on getting loan on higher mark up rate from the market. The step, he said affect exports and deprive the country of foreign exchange.
Sarhadi, who is also vice chairman of All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA) and FPCCI, further demanded that after the issuance of refund payment order (RPO), the exporters should be paid the refund within a period of one week and no delay should be made in this regard.
