MPA's fake degree case: D&S judge asked to conclude proceedings in two months

The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the District & Session Judge Rawalpindi to conclude proceedings of fake degree case filed against Member Punjab Assembly (MPA) Raja Shoukat Aziz Bhatti in two months on day-to-day hearing basis.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had filed a complaint before the District & Session Judge Rawalpindi against Raja Shoukat Aziz Bhatti (elected MPA form PP-4) over showing fake degree. The Commission had also launched an FIR against Bhatti which the Police cancelled to which the ECP challenged the cancellation of the FIR before the apex court.
Resuming the hearing of the ECP plea in the matter, a two-member bench led by the Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali issued directives to the concerned Session Judge to conclude the proceedings on the Commission application against Bhatti in two months.
Appearing before the court, the ECP counsel contended that the Commission had filed an application in the Session Judge court about the fake degree of Bhatti three years before, adding that the Higher Education Commission has not recognized Shoukat Aziz Bhatti diploma of Business Administration.
He also informed the court that the Session Judge has also declared the educational certificate fake and bogus. Later, the hearing of the matter was adjourned till date in office.
