Trust property: Supreme Court asks Punjab government to submit comprehensive report

The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked Punjab government to submit a comprehensive report pertaining to details of auction and encroachment on property donated by Sardar Kauray Khan Jatoi in Muzaffargarh for the welfare of the district under a registered trust.
A two-member judge bench of the Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh resumed the hearing of complaint of Muzaffar Hussain Khan and Mansoor Ahmed Shah, Advocates, regarding Mismanagement of Waqaf Property in Muzaffargarh.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had issued directives to the provincial government to make a committee for the demarcation of the trust land and get vacated the occupied property by developing mechanism for effective control and management of the property.
During the course of proceedings, the bench expressed dissatisfaction over the report submitted by the representative of Evacuee Trust Property in pursuance of the court directives terming it mere eyewash.
Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh observed that income generated from the trust property is meant for development of the welfare of the people to the district, adding that he hinted at to transfer the matter in hand to National Accountability Bureau or to Federal Investigation Agency to probe the embezzlement. Expressing dismay over the report contents, he observed that why the court was being misled saying the court is well aware from the facts, adding that he asked from the Evacuee Property Trust representative, "What is the rate of annual lease of the agriculture land adjacent to the Trust property of Sardar Kauray Khan Jatoi in Muzaffargarh.
Seeking comprehensive report from the Punjab government in the matter the bench adjourned the hearing of the case till first week of August 2016.
